I have turtle hunted by hand for 23yrs and love the adventure!!! I have only been bite once and that wasn't hunting for the turtle, it was from playing with it after I caught it!!! Lol!! Nothing like hit a creek on a hot day and looking for Mr. Snapper!!! Attachments:

They still have biting power but can't hold on when under water!!!!

How do you cook them up Jbird? Ive heard of soup but are there any other ways to prepare them? Ive jugged for them and gave them away just never ate any myself.

Soup good for the bigger ones but for the little ones we boil for a few hrs than roll in batter and either grill or deep fry them!!!!!

I love turtle as well man! I have never tried to catch em by hand nor want too! ;D Thats neat though! I do run lines for them in ponds around the area here when people want them removed. Cool stuff man! rollo
