Wish I had your money Pat! LOL! I run Abu 7000s but have been looking into the Omoto reels.

ya if i had the money avet would be the way to go! Kip, I started with a ming last season and after a couple days i returned it. to me it was very cheaply made and could barely cast 40 yards. I replaced it with an Omot 7000. Ive had great luck so far with the omoto. for the price i dont think you can go wrong with them. i have not seen any big fish on my omoto, but ive used it on the ohio a couple times throwing 6-8 oz and it does a great job casting and feels really solid.

Shimano Triton 200G. For the money they are one of the best reels you can get your hands on. And Of course Abu 7000s

I sure do like my abu's for casting, but for boat fishing I'll take my penn's. They ain't worth a crap for casting but I sure can pull the bottom of the river up with them.

I like the mings, no problems thus far.
As far as favorite goes though I got to go with the Okuma Classics

The okumas are great reels for the money. you can get them from catfish connection for less than $30. They arent too good for river fishing cuz the clickers pull out rather easily. But if you arent fishing in current they are a good reel. Ive had several of them over the years.

Have you tried tightening the brake down a little. I use Abu 6500's and I sometimes fish pretty swift current in the spring. All i do is tighten the brake down and they work just fine, the fish dont seem to mind the extra tension.

Yea man if you tighten the brake down a bit you should be fine, i like them as river reels. And you are right the price is awesome and they are basically bullet proof. I have mings and abus as well and still prefer the okumas
