We got tired of fishing all day and waiting for the catfish to bite on the river every saturday so we gave them a break and tried to get some crappies. We fished Rocky Fork Lake in Highland County, Ohio yesterday and got over 80 fish in four hours. We ended up keeping around 15 fish, mostly crappie but a few gills in the mix as well. Water temp. was around 53 degrees, and most of the fish were found in fallen trees in 13 to 16 feet of water. Most of the fish, 70 or more, were caught on artificial lures such as tube baits and small swimbaits....all others were caught on minnows and wax worms.
It was good to get out and catch a lot of small fish and have a blast doing it, but i know we'll get the urge to chase larger fish soon enough.
