Thankfully the majority of serious flathead fishermen around us release all flathead. We know that trophy flathead are a very small resource. Releasing flathead most definitely pays off. We have caught the same fish multiple times. A few years ago I caught a small flathead one night and my buddy caught the same fish a few hours later. The main reason to release trophy fish is so they can reproduce other flathead for years to come.
