It works, but you won't get many. Try beef liver under jugs.

I've always used jugs with beef liver as Mike said to clean ponds out. When a turtle gets hooked they usually will head for the bank..

Do NOT SHOOT AT TURTLES you never know where the bullet will go if you miss , might hit a neighbor or some kid a mile away , Few years ago in akron ohio a kid was shooting his dad's 22lr at brids in the air 3 days later they tracked donw the area where they though the bullet came from long story short the kid missed the bird and KILLED some lady sun bathing on her patio true story kid got involuntary manslaughter charges and shooting inside city limit's not a good outcome i would not chance this bullets will hit water and go god only knows where

Can't say I've ever seen a snapper sunning itself. Could happen I suppose. If you have a grocery store, you can get beef liver. If you honestly have bass eating groudhog meat, you need to be getting some bass out of there. It sounds way overstocked.

An old man told me once to wait until the pond freezes over in the winter and look for them under the ice near the edge of the pond. He told me to use a rock to bust the ice and pull them out. I guess you could shoot them then too, just don't hit the ice. You could give that a shot. What kinda gun are you using? Just curious.

If i had to shoot them i would go with a 12ga and some # 5 3in turkey load's with a xxx full choke tube would be the only way i would try to shoot them .....Sniper

You can increase your target size if you can get in a elevated position (aka; Tree). It also makes it easier cause they don't see you and, you can see them before they surface!!! Plus, the bullets will not ricochet as bad (better angle)!!!
