The thing I'm saying is there's no reason to keep bringing it up! Different states have different laws and not everyone is limited to 2 rods. There's no reason to single a person or group of people out. I created this site for positive people and don't want noone being singled out! I'm not about numbers here , Just want good drama free people!

I thought I remembered some talk last year about Ohio eliminating or changing that law? It never honestly made any sense to me. It has no effect on fish populations, only creel limits do that. I could give two sticks how many rods a person uses to fill their limits, as long as they abide by the limit. But then, I haven't fished for three years, so my opinion doesn't mean much. ;D

Chad, what is that thing you are holding in your avatar pic? It almost looks like a flathead, but I know you dont catch any!!! As far as Im concerned on the whole rods thing, you are allowed something like 25 hooks on a trotline, or however many jugs, why not eliminate the law of 2 rods per person....
As Mike said, there have been talks in years past. Hpefully its sooner than later!

Bryan From the Muskingum marina told me he fished Kenonsburg bay Fri night. The Amish (and only Amish) are allowed to camp there. They bring all their kids (50 limblines each) and line both banks and almost half the lake. Anyway that is not bad enough but Bryan said as he fished for flathead he saw Amish tending trotlines in the bay. Amishmen keep all fish any size and any species they catch. They get to camp along the lakeshore (rangers prevent anyone else from doing this) their kids are not rowing boats around tending their 50 limblines each but they still feel the need to trotline the area. I sure hope some hillbilly doesn't go down that bay dragging a grappling hook and dragging away the trotlines Several years ago some of the Amishmen reported that I was cutting limblines. When confronted by the Rangers I simply stated I only cut those that werre a hindrince to navigation. Before the Ranger could lecture me I asked him what he was going to tell the water skiers that got a rusty hook in their butts. The issue here is that too many rods is illegal. If the purpose of the law is to keep harvest down then limblines, jugs, and trotlines would be illegal. Since an Amishmen with a wife and 8 kids is fishing 500 limblines a night and keeping every fish he keeps, I think I might overlook a flathead fisherman fishing with more than 2 rods and releasing his fish. Anyone who feels that they can no longer tolerate flathead fishermen breaking the law need to learn 1-800-POACHER. This is the DNR hotline and the people you should tell about it. If on the other hand you just need an excuse for not catching fish you can always say what I say---They ain't biting ;D

I'll throw in my opinion on this one. Hope I don't pi$$ too many people off. PLEASE before you quote this and go off on me, READ IT IN ITS ENTIRETY. Sorry its a little late, Ive been fishing too much to get on the internet. I just wanted to share my opinion.
The idea of lining a bank with poles is rather new to me, I guess its because I don't know a lot of serious flathead anglers down home. Most people just paylake, and I've got my opinions on them as well. I understand the argument that trotliners get 50 hooks so why can I only use two poles. OR Juggers can use more than two jugs can't they? It all makes sense. If someone lines a bank with 20 or so poles and then complains about people trotlining and jugging, well simply put its like the pot calling the kettle black. I understand that most of these people that run trot lines keep their fish, and most people that fish with multiple poles don't. Thats really the key difference here.
I am by no means for exceeding the legal limit of poles. We fish two a piece and only two. Call it morals if you will.
I respect all catch and release fisherman. PERIOD. How they do it is their business. But when someone that lines a bank with more poles than the legal limit posts a 40 or 50 pounder and I know they used 20 poles to do it.......well i guess it doesn't mean so much to me.
I mean no disrespect to any one, just sharing my opinions. The sport of flathead fishing is not easy by any means. If you have spent countless nights fishing for them without a run you know what I mean. Imagine doing that with just two poles. ;D
I hope I haven't made any enemies here. If I was invited to fish with any of you and you wanted to use your normal spread its not a problem, let me know I'll bring my two poles. ;D
