During the spring when the fish are short biting or mouthing the bait I'll run the clicker while using circles. As soon as the fish start slamming the bait I'll lock my rods down I'n a rod holder. While bank fishing we usually just use a piece of PVC with an angle on one end. We pound it I'n with a rubber mallet or if your fishing sandbars you can shove them right I'n. We make sure to back the drag off a little but I've never seen anyone lose a rod with this method.

Ive owned both the 7000Is and The 7000IC3s I think they are both great reels. The IC3 has a few more bearings and the carbon matrix drag. The redesigned drag makes it 35% stronger and a little more smooth. I feel the 20.00 price increase is worth the money. I never had any problems with mine.

Sean its not the amount of water as much as the amount of oxygen it carries. We have had 6 channels in about thirty gallons in a 50 gallon tank. Micro bubbles carry more oxygen content in water than big bubbles. We have a diffuser that pushes tonsof micro bubbles on a 12 volt system. Airation helps with the dispersion off co2 build up, while the airstone supplies oxygen to the water. Heres a link giving more details. keepalive.net/guide.htm
