looks great man...I agree with above...if its mounted to the boat well I see no reason why ude have to use clickers...and if you do use clickers I defidently see no problem...when its attached to the boat ide put a rod in it and try to bury the rod with your hands and see how it acts...looks great tho

Dillon sounds great to me...less about chasing flatheads and more about meeting up with friends for a good time...I will have to work as usual Saturday but I'm defidently game to come down after....tho getting off at four means I prolly wouldn't make it till down till six or seven...as long as me bringing my son isnt an issue ill be in...great idea Kip...thanks!

I know in the spring channel cats will move back up tributaries where they call home....does anyone have an educated guess as to how far they will be moved up? The river is about the size if the stillwater but with more current and probably real similar depth...its finally back down to normal pool and I wanted to give it a shot if weather permits this evening...I assume its more than warm enough fir channels to be back in but curious what you all thought....thanks

9 Ok the spot's i picked we hit none of them i opted for a spot with big laydowns and shallow water say 6ft deep got 2 channel right off the bat 1st fish maybe 1lb 2nd fish maybe 3lb came off shrimp not hits on shad and they were all around us , Dave had something pull a 7000b clicker 30ft before we knew if was the rod 50ft down the bank and YES HE MISSED IT LOL other than that no fish after the sun went down froze our asses off..... frost on the sleeping bags when dave woke up , I couldn't sleep wa s to damn cold even with the coverall's on and a jacket and gloves and yes DAVE WAS SLEEPING AGAIN it's ok i caught more fish then him got home 2am ....This sat. it's gonna be a day trip and home by dark still to cold for all night hope it warms by the 30th so kip and i can be on our game for the Tappan tournment ? sounds like the famous last words of a Guy who doesn't want anymore free rides lol....I didn't miss the fish by the way...the fish dropped the bait before I got there and never came back....hardly my fault lol thanks for twisting it up to make yourself look better....the two channels you caught would've looked good as bait!

I used to be a diehard lake Guy but have recently found the error is my ways...I center more on time of year to decide I guess....lakes in spring cuz they warm faster and lakes when the river is up to high...asside from that I shoot for rivers...far more action in my opinion...

Seen a lot of info on about type of bait and changing bait species for time of year but what's everyone's opinions on livebait size in relation to time of year? You guys trying to run smaller baits in colder water and larger during middle of year or do even pay attention? I mean obviously you don't wanna run a 15" smallmouth in March but once water temp is up into the fifties do you consider it an anything goes scenario?

I've always tried circle hooks and always hated em for both flats and channels...well I went out dedicated to make em work this year. I fished for two hours last night and ended up catching some channels...they weren't pulling quite hard enough to set the hook but I stuck it out and they eventually worked like a charm...they worked my bait over for over five minutes before actually gettig hooked....so I think I've figured it out....I just wasn't patient enough in the past...anyone else have a patience problem with circles? Overall I think I am going to like them tho...

Some great info here...also agree about the channel cats getting to the Chubs before flats... I favor whatever baits r easy to get obviously but always like having some whitehorse and higog suckers and some bullheads along....those r my favorites...I really should try switching up for certain times of year but never really have....set in my ways a lil I guess
