Welcome to the site. There is a lot of useful info here to help you out on your journey. catfishfreaks.proboards.com/thread/362/alternative-methods-catfishing-readCheck this post out on alternative methods of catfishing. There is a lot of different opinions on things like jugging and trot lines and the sort. A lot of the fishermen here have had bad experiences with people who use alternative methods. It is a sore topic. Doesnt mean everyone who does it is not responsible or unethical, but it has left a bad taste in a lot of mouths.

Yeah. Ill try my hand at snelling with it. I can cinch them down, but it takes some effort.
Chuck, I think why it may be breaking between the hook and the swivel is because there is less stretch between those two points than anywhere else.

Pretty much like a trilene knot. But not wrapping it through the eye two times. Thats the one that doesnt want to cinvh down easily.

I think it is called the blood knot. Put it through the eye, wrap 6 or 7 times and then back through the loop in the line by the hook.

Kind of like a palomar or trilene knot. Throughthe eye, wrap around about seven times then through the loop by the ye and pull tight.

ill have to try that. I was fishing monday and there were carp everywhere. I seen some jump that had to be at least ten pounds. they didn't want anything to do with my nightcrawlers though

i got some thirty pound, that seems very good. did you notice that it is hard to get a knot tied in it?, seems the line did not want to slide on itself to tighten up. Even with a ton of spit on it. I ended up putting on a mechanics glove and wrapping around my hand to get my knots to pull tight. I don't think I will have a problem with knots pulling out.
I did get some fifteen for my channel rods for the boat, which has some memory. I got some twelve for channel rods for bank fishing. The castability in my opinion on that anyway is somewhat compromised by the stiffness of the line. I think for those rods I will go back to the trilene xl for castability.
I do like the line, I am pretty sure that I will stick with the heavier line as I don't worry as much about distance with either the boat rods or flathead rods.
