Ya know, the funny thing to me about a certain catfish forum (not mentioning the name but if youve been on it, you know exactly which one im talking about) is, if you ask about a certain type of equipment, or you have a bad feedback post about the products that the site owner sells and is associated with, then you either have your post deleted or you get the ban stick. It is as if you speak negative at all about something related to their products (even respectfully) you get banned like nazi propaganda back in the 3rd reich. For instance, there was a member on that particular forum that started a thread about Dave's Cat Fight rods and i saw it as soon as he posted it and pm'd him stating that dont be surprised if it gets deleted by the site owner JUST because of a personal vendetta he has against Dave, and b/c he pushes a certain companies POS rod. No more than 4 hours later, poof, gone. I then explained to him what had happened and why. These are suppose to be public forums and any catfishing related topics should be welcomed. Not the case. It wouldnt surprise me if he (owner of the site) lurked on every catfishing forum on the net, to see what other competitors where doing, and what the public says about the products he sells. so, i guess it wouldnt surprise me if he saw this thread and knew exactly who i was, and know EXACTLY what im talking about. He also had some choice curse words to pm me when i said in a thread that the Abu 7000's are way better than the comparable reels he provides. I only made the comments in a response to HIS post where he said that his reels "blow abu 7000s out of the water." I just called him on his BS. Oh well.. Thats why i dont go to that website any more. Way way too many people drinking on his cool aid. Most of the members dont know jack about actual fishing, they just regurgitate what others have said, and dont know anything from any experience. I believe that 80% of the members think if they suck up to him, they will receive blessings from the all mighty catfish god. I will say though, that forum is the only one ive been on that was like that. Kip and Lyle do a great job in running these boards. Thank you guys.

I have a few 7000's, and i say go alphamar. Love my 7000's, but as far as abu goes, you can't beat the alphamar. May i suggest a penn fathom?? Best all round cat/drum reel ive ever had my hands on. 30lbs of drag as oppose to 27lb (i think) that the alphamar has. And i second the statement about checking out bottom dwellers.

While I'm not much on Carp fishing, my partner in crime, Will, is a carp nut. They are probably his second favorite freshwater fish next too cats. I'll keep that in mind. Im sure he'd love to do some carp fishing for the film. Thanks for the suggestion, Sean.

Youre right, there are a ton of catfishing videos on the net but we are going to have a solid years worth of footage compiled onto one DVD, fishing through all 4 seasons and showing the different strategies for each season and showing tips of the trade along the way. The biggest difference of our DVD and others will be the quality of video picture and editing. We are going to be adding a more edgy and newer age twist to the catfishing industry, not just to fat guys on a boat with banjos playing over the video. Most video's and DVD's just show the fisherman sitting in the boat and a rod goes down. We are going to be explaining WHY we are in the spot we are fishing, what appeals to us, showing the graph and marked fish. Bait fishing and bait choices will be covered, different rigs, equipment, etc. will also be explained. The dvd is going to be geared to experienced cat men, and also to the one's just getting started. There is also going to be other entertainment in the DVD that may not just be about the fishing. There will also be big bull red drum fishing included since its right there among cats as my favorite fish to target. And about guided trips, there is definitely a place for guides. If someone has the catfish bug but lives in NYC and has no boat, how else is he going to get started in the sport? And as for the DVD, we've been out with 2 guides for 2 reasons.. First and foremost, to help support and advertise their business for their area. Secondly, to piggy back the first reason, to just get good footage. There's nothing wrong with that. DVD's and fishing shows do this ALL the time. 99% of the footage will be shot from my boat or Will's boat with Just us and a camera man on the boat. We WILL be taking a trip to the Mississippi, to fish with some folks who are not guides. One of them is John Jamison. We dont have the funds just yet to haul our boats across the country so we just have to make due. It will be very informative and enjoyable to watch, no doubt about it.
And about the facebook thing, this page is the first time ive been on facebook since '07. I dont have a personal page for the exact reason you mentioned. LoL, i feel your pain. Ive never really liked facebook and hate when its the topic of everyones conversation, but you can't deny that facebook is the most effective way to get the word around and to "meet" as many folks as you do. I'll keep my personal stuff "personal" LoL. Thanks for asking these questions and wanting to know more, Sean.

Some of you may know, that myself and my fishing partner, Will Love, are in the process of filming a catfish and bull drum DVD entitled "Bottom Fever." The filming started this past January, and we've gotten some great footage so far. We have a couple more shots to get and we will be releasing the trailer for the dvd soon. Iv'e already lined up some trips with some pretty big names in the catfishing world (no spoilers) with 2 trips being on the Mississippi. Most of the footage will be taken from local NC fisheries and of course, the James river. Its going to be something totally different than anything else to hit the catfish scene. Our goal is for this DVD to be a stepping stone into the TV realm. We've got a production company who's very interested all ready. So check out of facebook pages. One is the business page, like us on there, and the other is our friends page, send us a friend request and shoot me a message letting me know that youre from CFF. Check in and see some updates on the filming process. Thanks for the support! www.facebook.com/blkwlfoutdoorswww.facebook.com/blkwlfoutdoors2David Baker BLK WLF Outdoors

There is a reason behind it. Ratings.. There are a few noodling shows on tv right now and they are killing the ratings. "thats what people want to see." At least the ones that dont know jack about catfishing. The all mighty dollar will take precedence over ethics. We see it all the time in other venues. The term "selling out" comes to mind.

LoL, 280lb flat heads at the LOZ dam, human eating catfish, 400lb man says a flathead had his entire leg up to his knee in his mouth? Does Jeremy Wade think that fisherman don't watch this stuff?? I almost turned the channel when i saw so much BS in one episode.
