I have seen some sites roll over and die pretty quickly because of in fighting. There are groups out there for anybody.... you just have to search or pehaps start your own and make your own rules.
I knew what DWD was up to once I read this thread from start to finish and remembering some of his earlier threads.

As long as its legal in your area then I can't do much about it now can I eh?
I am all rod and reel. Thats it.
Not sure what DWD is getting at but I am glad this topic was brought up again for us newer members

Regulations stipulate the use of only barbless hooks here as well. That took a bit of getting used to but I rarely lose fish now.

Welcome to the site.
I also am a supporter of tough regulations on fisheries. I eat fish, but don't like to fish for food like I was taught. I have seen what tough regulations do for a fishery, here in MB any channel cat over 24" must be released. The The channel cat fishery here is amazing. Best of luck

Try shrimp on the flat. Live crayfish would be a good option if you could get them.

I would try 6 foot, and keep goin deeper till ya find the right depth. Your pic looks like it shows a shallow flat? That should a great area for channels to feed at night. Feeding flats.... one of my best channel cat holes is a shallow flat next to a 40' hole on a big bend.
