Still haven't got to test the king kahles for myself. Lines sat out for about 4 hours last night and nothing touched them. Try again tomorrow! Gonna try and fish for carp before dark. Any suggestions?

the 38 and 34 wernt mine, i caught the 32 and 16. we have caught a few more over the years but never had a night even close to that again. was 2002. no the population is small there but they do travel through. the 38 is still the biggest that i know of to come out of there. if i had to guess all 4 fish were traviling together and most likely with quite a few more fish jut pack hunting and moving through or something. we were casting into a current seam and all the fish came out of the same spot basically good to know they're around!

I've seen some 30# blues caught in tournaments from that area. I've fished it quite a few times but never caught one. Good population of Flathead there though. definitely some nice flatheads, experience with them but never blues

Spawn/gar

So the last few weeks when I fish I can't even get a nibble from a flathead on big baits. I'm pretty sure it is due to the spawn so I have switched to using slip bobbers for channels the last week or so. No matter what I do, I have a problem, my bait getting stolen. I would cast large fresh cut bass or suckers, after 20 minutes with not even the tip of my rod bouncing i'd reel in nothing, no bait at all. When I started using slip bobbers I used small creek chubs and small suckers anywhere from 1 to 8 feet down. The bobber would go under, it would run for a couple seconds and when I yanked to set the hook it was gone. I started letting run for excess of 30 seconds just to try and see what it was, sometimes it would even be gone after that long of running. Yesterday I finally hooked up with it. I got it to the end of the dock and it was a gar. I'm positive this is what has been stealing my bait the last few weeks. Does anyone else have this gar problem? How could I fix it if it is even possible? Thanks for the help

caught 4 fish in that pool one night, one after another. 32, 34, 38 and 16. that's pretty impressive from Marietta from what I know about the blue population there. I could be wrong. I honestly have never seen anyone catch one here

I'd check out the 7/0 Charlie Brown hooks. They are a mix between a khale and a circle. A true double action hook. You can set the hook like a J hook or let it load up like a circle. It would be a perfect size for all species of catfish a lot of people do seem to like them. I'll give them a try

That's what I figured but, I asked because I was up to the challenge. It'll be a good time and very rewarding to catch one

If possible, what is a hook that I could use for everything, an all around hook? I could use it for whatever I want to do. Is it possible?

blues are the easiest catfish to catch, there is no hook too big, atleast a 4/0,cut bait, blue gills, shad, skip jack, and eel are best baits about a 2 foot leader to a swivel then a sliding sinker of some sort,if blues are around try to cast out in the main channel of the river if they are there you will find them thanks, never heard of them around here but I figured there had to be some

Can blues be found as far north as wheeling? If so, even if rare, how do fish for them from shore? Rigs, hooks, etc... Go into detail. I figure they're rare around here, and I feel like it would be fun and challenging to locate and catch one. I've never caught or even fished for blue cats my whole life. Thank you guys on this site so much by the way. You help me out a lot, I appreciate it!
