You ever tried to actually hold a rod up at 22lbs. I mean sitting your rod on a rail of a boat is one thing, but when shore fishing or fighting a fish standing its real hard. I have experimented with a digital scale and tried to see how much I could get the scale to read using a rod and reel. I attached the scale to a solid surface, tied a line to it, walked about 25 feet away and started giving it my all.....at approximately 45 degree angle. (I'm not the smallest guy in the world either) I did this because I thought that the abu garcia 7000 drags were too weak to handle big fish. Turns out that 20lbs of pressure is really hard to achieve, add a five or ten minute battle and your done. I guess the point I'm trying to make is that to see a rod hold that much weight is just crazy, most likely it will never be put under that much stress. Better safe then sorry though. That is correct. we stand on ladders, tha boat and everything else when testing. I have put lead in a bucket and stick a rod in a holder and ripped it right off the boat, or even better broke off a brandX 1/2 rod holder at the base. It is very had to pick up that much weight, and very few rod will stand the test.

I know this may be hard to believe but we have been testing these blanks for over a year, 22#'s ain't much to test blanks with. May I ask why the eyes of the rod is what's holding the weight while the reel is on the opposite side of the eyes? What is a version of a spiral wrap, this rod was built for test porpoise's only

Every year I get hundreds if not more request for Pro Staff members, to this point I have always hand picked the Pro Staff members for Blackhorse Rods. So after serious consideration I have decided to do a contest for a new Pro Staff member, with a twist. This position will be open to everyone that catfish's but must be a tournament fisherman, this includes women and man & women teams, guides will also be given serious consideration. Inquires must be serious fishermen, must be willing to help market products and help promote products. All intrested partys will have to send in a resume and any video or pictures that would help make the decision on who we choose. First you must be a Twisted Cat Outdoors member. There will be a guide line set of rules to be posted later, Now here is the twist, The winner of this contest will also be put on the Pro Staff of Bottom Dweller Tackle and Drift Master rod holders! If the winner of this contest plays their card right this could be an outstanding long lasting position. Please send resume's to lyle@blackhorsecustomrods.com Looking forward to seeing who is serious about catfishing. Stay tuned for updates and rules.
