I've only been associated with the whole Socal Network and Fishing Forums for a few years, but already I see a trend that seems to contradict the very purpose as to why social networking and forums were set up in the first place. Wern't they originally created so people could come together to a place where they could share ideas, meet new folks who enjoy the same things as they do... engage in friendly opinionated debates, and so on ? It seems like now... and maybe it has always been this way. It just seems like Censorship has taken over and if you side with or have an opinion that differs from the owners view or someone else then the easy button gets hit and you are history. WOW REALLY!!!!. I don't get it. What is the point of owning or creating something if your only interest in it is to create an inviorment that taylors to your selfish needs. Are we at the point where a difference in opinions gets you banned from a site or de-friended on facebook.
I have been told by a friend that they have been involved it social networking for alot longer and here is what he had to say..."I have been on website forums for about 6yrs now and I can tell you this. There are those out there that will make you feel, unwanted, outcast (full of clicks), intrusive or just plain don't have what you need!!! There was one that I was a member of when I first started going to forums that went from: A fun place to go to, you either agree with the "kings over the site" or get banned!! The people were friendly and the atmosphere was great, that all changed over greed.
I have been banned from 3 forums for stating my oppinion on things that "I" saw as wrongs that were done to others or myself. I stick to my beliefs and go on my way. If they bann you for that, I don't need to be there!!! I don't like Greedy, Self Serving People."
WOW!!! I get told the same thing over and over. Is the tide out for good or will there always be this type of behavior. For awhile I thought this was the norm... then I found that there are sites out there devoted to keeping things the way they were supposed to be.

As long as a site such as ours is productive and doesn't get out of hand that is what I hope will seperate Twisted Cat Outdoors from the rest of the pack. Opinions can be shared and should be as long as everyone stays in check. I don't agree with all comments and I'm sure everyone don't agree with all of mine but this makes for a healthy enviorment and keeps the flow of entertanment open. In my opinion the easy button should only be used when there is a unruly disruption of the general forum. I know for sure everyone is not going to agree with me, if they did I would still me a member of other forums and this one wouldn't be here
Since Lyle came on the scene Other Forums have followed this type of site. I would like to thank Josh Wrightsman for creating CFPro and Kip and Rollo for Creating Catfish Freaks Both sites have chose to follow Lyle in creating a place where folks can come togather and share their passions for the outdoors.

Thanks for the kind words Vince. It takes good, positive people to have a good site. I feel we have a great group of people here.

There is definitely a lot of egos out there. People who like to start things are a dime a dozen and need to stay on their thrones way off and over there. I like to believe that this site gives a voice back to the majority rather than those "self entitled elites." I joined the site when it was still relatively small, and I have built relationships with several people on here since then. This site had a family oriented atmosphere and I like to think that it can stay that way even with growing numbers of members. Big thumbs up to Rollo and Kip.

I think the regional sites are a lot better myself. You get to know people personally.I,m on 5 different smaller sites.Kip and Rollo do a great job here.Josh does a great job on CFPRO.Couple more smaller ones I keep in touch with daily. The home page in my avatar is my local club-3RC,Joe G does a great job with that.I'm thankful for all the sites that started up and the efffort their owners put forth to make them all so enjoyable!!!I respect others opinions and i'm grateful to be able to express mine too.I don't like any site that doesn't let you express your opinions(within reason) just because they don't agree with the owners.I thank all the sponsors like Big Dave,Lyle, and all the others who have thrown their support behind the smaller guys too!!!!

Ya know, the funny thing to me about a certain catfish forum (not mentioning the name but if youve been on it, you know exactly which one im talking about) is, if you ask about a certain type of equipment, or you have a bad feedback post about the products that the site owner sells and is associated with, then you either have your post deleted or you get the ban stick. It is as if you speak negative at all about something related to their products (even respectfully) you get banned like nazi propaganda back in the 3rd reich. For instance, there was a member on that particular forum that started a thread about Dave's Cat Fight rods and i saw it as soon as he posted it and pm'd him stating that dont be surprised if it gets deleted by the site owner JUST because of a personal vendetta he has against Dave, and b/c he pushes a certain companies POS rod. No more than 4 hours later, poof, gone. I then explained to him what had happened and why. These are suppose to be public forums and any catfishing related topics should be welcomed. Not the case. It wouldnt surprise me if he (owner of the site) lurked on every catfishing forum on the net, to see what other competitors where doing, and what the public says about the products he sells. so, i guess it wouldnt surprise me if he saw this thread and knew exactly who i was, and know EXACTLY what im talking about. He also had some choice curse words to pm me when i said in a thread that the Abu 7000's are way better than the comparable reels he provides. I only made the comments in a response to HIS post where he said that his reels "blow abu 7000s out of the water." I just called him on his BS. Oh well.. Thats why i dont go to that website any more. Way way too many people drinking on his cool aid. Most of the members dont know jack about actual fishing, they just regurgitate what others have said, and dont know anything from any experience. I believe that 80% of the members think if they suck up to him, they will receive blessings from the all mighty catfish god. I will say though, that forum is the only one ive been on that was like that. Kip and Lyle do a great job in running these boards. Thank you guys.

These are suppose to be public forums and any catfishing related topics should be welcomed. Not the case. While the rest of what you state is probably true I dont know but as far as being public they (all of them) are from it. Unless you are the owner you have the choice on how you want your forum to be. If Im thinking of the site your thinking of I have no qualms with how its run (for the most part). I dont pay the bills for it and I dont pay to be on it so if he wants to delete any of my posts then go for it. This site here is similar as in they dont want any discussion on any type of fishing except Rod/Reel which is great also since that all I do (not very well LOL). Freedom of speech only goes so far as there are laws within that like speaking out about killing someone or whatever. Not trying to knock you or anything but this site is clean right now and hopefully stays that way.

^ No offense taken. As to what i said being true or not, i dont have a reason to lie about it. Im pretty sure i still have the pm converstation between me and him, i dont think i deleted it. As far as people using limb lines, trot lines, etc., i dont do it nor agree with it as far as it being a "sport" but i dont have problems with people who talk about it on forums. Its their choice. Only problem i have is people who leave their limb lines and dont take them down. Ive seen a 30lb blue hanging above water where the levels dropped. that pissed me off. But if people use them b/c they are not successful at rod and reel fishing and they want some fresh catfish to eat, by all means, go for it. Just take your lines down when youre done, ya know?

I did, I also know Joe, Kip and Josh all have the same feelings about how things should be done. Members from all the sites should remember that we are going to make mistakes, but the trick to this is learn from them and admit to them and fix the problem. Don't be like the other guys and just blow every thing off or blame everything on someone that has been banned so they can't defend their ideas. I'm very pleased to have an open line between these sites and I know we are all about making catifishing better for all.
