I prefer to fish rivers for flatheads. However, have been spending plenty of time the last 3 years on the lakes trying to catch a state record flathead. Lakes are def. tougher to target big flatheads, but I believe the next state record fish roams and will be caught from a MWCD lake again! rollo

Deffently lakes, i use to fish the tusc ALOT but the size of fish are not in there that i now target. If i want to catch a bunch of big channels and small flatheads i will fish the river but i only do that a few times a year, i guess the river mudd is still flowing in my veins but its not as thick as it use to be ;D

i also like to fish rivers. more success and i feel like i am doing more than just sittin on a bank at the lake at a spot that someone told me. in the river i am actually applying logic to fishing and it makes it more fun to me. i know you can do the same at a lake but i am not set up for that yet.

I saw river simply because I live by the Tusc River. It's easy to go there when I only have a couple hours to spend. I am trying more and more each year at some lakes though.

I fish lakes for the most part. I am able to locate the fish easier in lakes than in rivers. I just look at the lakes map, drive around find some structure at the right depth and fish. Rivers are a little harder to read, I can find fish in creeks becuase i know where the current makes holes for the cats, then if the hole has structure i fish. The Ohio river for instance is constangly dredged for barges, lacks adequate structure, and is just too big to really key in on the fish. I guess you could fish wingdams, locks and dams, but everyone and thier brother does that already. I guess i feel more confident fishing lakes.

I've caught plenty of flathead in rivers but I think I can find larger fish in the lakes.
Now when I river fish it is for blues in the Ohio or on the James river.

Where do you prefer to do your Catfishing, Lakes or Rivers? i prefer to fish rivers for flats they are allot easier to find on a river and i like to fish for channels on a lake if the lake has allot of mud i like to find gravel or sand areas and thats where i have the most luck.

I used to be a diehard lake Guy but have recently found the error is my ways...I center more on time of year to decide I guess....lakes in spring cuz they warm faster and lakes when the river is up to high...asside from that I shoot for rivers...far more action in my opinion...
