Fishing rivers one of my favorite areas to target are flat..featureless areas adjacent to cover of some type. Using these flats to intercept fish coming out of the cover to their feeding areas. One of my favorite spots is on the tail end of an outside bend. Fish seem to work that bend all night and even during the day in some cases. The spot is just upstream from an area that congregates a lot of vegetation (which attracts bait of all sorts) just upstream from the spot I set up are multiple feeder creeks and submerged timber with abnormal depth for that area of the river...and concrete...and lots of unknown things that eat tackle...fishing on the flat in between these structures is productive for me. Its like setting a trap in a place that the fish have to pass through to go where the bait is.
