hey pawpaw, I have blue 50 gallon barrel with a spicket on the bottom that i don't really use...
I had it set up down in georgia when i lived right the lake, just used an aerator cause i pretty much would fill it up with bream the day before i planned on going fishing.......
with an aerator and filteration system it would work great....

Great ideas...I have very similar things with my tank...only issue I have is keeping it clean...any filtration ideas that rnt rediculously expensive? I use a Home Depot pond filter in my bait tank.It only runs about $25,it really makes a difference in the amount of bait I can keep.It uses both mechanical and biological filtration. It takes a couple weeks to get the filter established good for the year.I try to only keep 6-8 baits in the tank til the filter takes hold good. There's a picture of it in my bait tank.

Thanks pat! Never thought about the biological filtration...ill defidently have to give that a try...I've got big Rubbermaid like watering troughs...maybe 150gal? And they hold a mess of bait....but changing the water every three or four days because u have 20lbs of suckers in there is rough lol appreciate it man!

Well heres my tank. Its a 100 gallon tank. I use a Rena Star 3 stage filter system. I also use 3 big air stones. I keep bait in it all year around sometimes. I don't feed my bait because they never are in the tank long because I fish every weekend. I usually have gills and goldfish in it. The key to having a good bait tank is air, filter, and don't over crowd the thing. Believe it or not in the spring, I fill it up with city water. I just put in a water conditioner and run it for a couple of days before I put bait in it. The water stays clean all summer long. I have around $300.00 in this setup. I have used this for about 3 years now with no problems. CC Attachments:

I use a tote its 330 gal and a swimming pool pump with filter plumbed up to a spray bar I do a half water change about once a month but I have to put water in sometimes due to evaporatin I pump out of the bottom drain had to put a screen over it or the bait would get in there it works great I usally keep 50-60 bluegills and goldfish in it .I might lose maybe 5-6 baits a summer Ihave it in a lean to off my shed and its against a bank so it stays shady in there I also have a agitator type areator [like the ones bait shops use] but dont run it muich the pool pump works just fine. I just take the filter out and spray it off and when it gets to dirty just put a new one in there only about 10 bucks for 2 filters Attachments:

These are great ideas guys! I've liked Duckys setup since he told me about it a few years ago. I haven't come across a cheap one that works though. I have a 110 gal water trough tub I use with a pool pump for filter with the water falling back into the water to help with airation. I never fill it much past half full. I've had over easily over 70 baits in it at once using a few each week. Mix of creek chubs, gills, perch, big shiners, goldfish, and rockbass

Thanks for all the help and ideas, I have implemented a combination of several of your ideas. The stock tank is for goldfish are bluegills, the freezer is for chubs and suckers. Thanks again my fellow freaks. Attachments:
