I have been thinking about adding a black light to my fishing gear. I am using Big Game solar on my 5500 reels. Looking at the new LED black lights, they look to be compact in size... But are they bright enough? To those who use or have used them, would a LED black light make the solar line glow enough that I can turn the lantern way down? Are they worth the money? Or should I save my cash and put it toward a 6500?

I gave up on the black lights. I now use the glow sticks from Wild Wolf products. If I could have found a black light I could use on the tip of my rods, I would use those. But all the ones I have used didn't help much for seeing the line past the end of the rod, where I needed to see it.

I recently got a headlamp UV blacklight online. www.blacklightshop.com/shop/viewitem.php?productid=23 . I guess they are used to find scorpions. It was 20$ and it makes my big game glow. Not much much light to see anything else. For this reason I also use a Coleman headlamp with a blue setting (along with red and three white settings). The blue also makes big game glow. Sent from my MB886 using proboards

I buy little LED lights that are designed for kids fingers. A zip tie attaches them to my rod tip.

Thanks for the input! I think I will save my money and put it toward a baitcaster with a larger line capacity then my Abu 5500's.

I use a BlackEye(FL802R) light from optronics works very well illuminating my fluorescent lines. Before using it I missed a lot of strikes now I rarely miss a strike unless im just not paying attention.
