I would like to add a scale to my gear, I see the older discontinued Berkley digital scales get rave reviews. The new Berkley digitals get poor reviews. So which scale do you use? And or which scale would you recommend? Thanks Fred

Im lucky and purchased one of the 100# Berkley tec scales before they were discontinued. I have used the Quarrow scales and like them too. I also have a 50# berkley scale that has never failed me and weighs right on with my 100# scales.

I know a few guys who use these and swear by them. They are very accurate from what I here. Hell for 15 Bucks you can't loose. It has a calibration mode also so if it gets off you can recalibrate. I'm not endorsing this product because I've never used one but I going to order me one and give it a shot. Do not loose the instructions because calibration mode is a little detailed. it uses a larger round watch type battery which I prefer using AA or AAA because I keep a bag full in my tackle bag. www.amazon.com/American-Weigh-Scale-Digital-0-05-Pounds/dp/B0012TDR9E/ref=pd_sim_sbs_misc_11

I picked up a 110lb digital hang scale from American Weigh. Tarable, weighs in a few units, and has hold and max pull settings. Can be re-calibrated easily and is accurate to within 20 grams, guaranteed. Not a bad scale for 45 bucks.

Mines a little bit different, but weighs the same range. Very similar, maybe a newer/older model?

I finally got to try out the PT110 scale I picked up from American Weight Scale. Unfortunately it wasn't on a Flathead, it did a fine job weighting the 6 and the 8 lb channel cats I caught at Knox last night. The red back light on the LCD display made for easy reading in the dark.

These little digital scales are available on Ebay. Very accurate and economical and run on AAA batteries. Rated up to 100 lbs so no problem knowing weight on trophy fish. I have a couple and the one I use has been modified, I cut off the little hook on the bottom and added 2 S hooks to make it stronger and easier to hook weigh sling. At this price ($6.85) there is no reason for people to "guess" the weight of their flathead

I think at some point a 50 pound scale could disappoint flathead fishermen. Then again you could be a Minnesota flathead guy and say 48 X 37 and guess at weights
