Yeah that's the big difference I realized Jordan. And we've been using kahles for a few years, I've only gut hooked one fish, about a 5 pounder

I think it all boils down to what your comfortable and confident in as far as hook choice and hooking technique. I like circle hooks, haven't bought a j hook in a long time. I've fished plenty of lakes and rivers and I like them everywhere, in a boat or on the bank. I don't believe color makes a bit of difference whether a catfish bites your bait or not, its more of a marketing tool for hook manufacturers.

As far as letting a catfish run I don't like to. Blue, shovelheads, or a channel cat....I like to let them pull that rod down in the rod holder.

I use Eagle Claw L2022 10/0 sea circle hook. With these bad boys snelled they have an awesome trigger effect. I usually let the rod load up but they set great using a slow sweep if the fish is running towards you also. I have caught dinks as small as two pounds using them. I don't think color would matter much unless the red would put off a gill flash type of illusion in clear water.
