What are your favorite hooks for flatheads and channels? Where do you get them from? Just interested in what people use and I'm looking for hooks that I like that I can use regularly. I've been using king kahles lately

Also, I have never felt comfortable using a pvc rod holder on the bank while running circles with the reel engaged. How do you do it without the fish, especially if they are larger, pulling the rods into the water? I've never had the guts to try it

I started using kahles last couple years and have had great hook ups, almost 100%. I started using vmc wide gap kahles in 6/0. These hold a sharp point for a very long time. I still have some from last year that I have yet to have to sharpen. They are not terribly expensive. 2.99 for a 6 pack.

I've been using 7/0 king kahles, seem to be the best size the size for flatheads I catch but I also catch some bigger channels when fishing for shovel heads with them

6/0 Bottom Dwellers Circles for Channels and 9/0 Charlie Brown hooks for flatheads. I've caught Flatheads up to 50 pounds from the bank with the reel locked down and using a pvc rod holder. The trick is to back the drag off some. You want it to be tight to load the rod all the way up but not too much you lose your rod.

Also, bottom dwellers doesn't carry 6/0 circles anymore so I was thinking the gamakatsu circles that they carry in about a 5/0 would work well. Any experience with those? Thanks kip

I'll order the Charlie browns soon, I've been hesitant because I lose hooks a lot lol

step up a line size. and down a hook size from your used too. I like the 5/0 eagle claw in high snag areas. The hooks will straighten out and let go of whatever they're hooked on. just bend em back and keep on fishin. I only do this when fishin for channels. and they are still strong enough to hold any channel you will find. probably not big blues or big flathead though.
