I use 5500C and 6000 reels on tiger rods and need to know what will work good on them. I need about 25-30 lb. line and am wondering what you guys use on these reels?

Hi Seas Grand Slam Mono would be choice for 25-30 lb. mono, For braid I have had good luck with Spectra Extreme braid 50lb test.

I too run the Hi-Seas mono. I run 80# power pro braid on a few outfits too.

I wonder because of drag. Fishing on the missouri and the mississippi current has a log of drag and will move the baits around.

I am a big fan of spiderwire super braid 65 and 50. They both cast great. just not recommended for rocky areas.

i use hi-seas mono also, the 25lb is great. on my channel cat tourney rods i run that cheap zebco braid from walmart. 50lb test. i really like it but have never caught a fish over 20lbs on it. you can really never go wrong with power pro, what sucks about braid is no matter what brand you go with you are going to pay for it, thats for sure. i would buy a cheap spool first personally to see if you like braid. then upgrade if you like it, personally i dont like braid but lots of guys love it. kind of an expensive spool to take off your reels if you dont like it

I don't like any mono over 20 lbs on the 55 and 6500 Abu's unless it's as a leader. I've been using Suffix 832 30lb on the 5500's with a 20lb mono leader. On the 6500's 40 lb Suffix 832 and a 30lb leader.
