yes. the fish there quit biting cause they are all about to die off. and then get restocked. When on the chatahoochie try suckers. They are easy to find in small rivers or large creeks. rocky deep holes with a casting net. If you are catching creek chubs, try a little bit bigger creek. And No, We hate paylakes. they rip fish from there natural habitat and let them go in oversize mudd puddles. They starve the fish so they will bite on anything they can find. And the stress of being pulled out over and over kills them.

Don't worry about using bait too massive. You don't need them too big. My favorite bait are probably hand sized bluegill or other hand sized baits. With chubs I do like a little better, they are a lot softer and easier to eat. I caught my PB 42 on a goldfish about half the size of my palm , I have better luck on hand sized baits or smaller but sometimes there are exceptions. Lol
