It's a male channel cat. And a nice one at that. The larger bull males often have that clean blue color to them

its a blue cat the anal fin is straight and it is definitely not a channel because the anal fin is not rounded

Agree to disagree on that, but regardless it's a nice fish and that's what matters

I'm gonna vote blue or hybrid. Anal fin looks straight to me and the whisker looks short.

Looks like a nice hybrid. If you are fishing the Potomac, I thought I read a while back that they are called White Catfish (Ameiurus catus). I catch that type all the time when I am out in my kayak. This is the description on them from the DNR for Maryland:
"Moderately forked tail with rounded lobes. Anal fin with rounded margin. Generally a light gray color on back and sides with a white belly. Chin barbels are pale or white. Stocky body with large head. Commonly found 12-13" in length, rarely exceeding 6 lbs. No State record exists. Minimum size for consideration is 7 lbs. Common in tidal freshwater but has also been stocked in some non-tidal waters in Maryland. The state record white catfish (Chesapeake division) is 8.27 lbs."
