Has anyone used these castable fish finders? Being shore bound for the foreseeable future I am looking at picking one up. It connects through wifi to your iPad or iPhone and can be cast 100yards. It can show bottom contour, but the feature that has me interested is the ability to download a lake map and using the GPS in the Deeper you can cast and create an actual bottom contour map of your fishing spot .

The idea behind it is really cool. No I don't know of anyone who has tried one, but as long as they work they could be a great tool for finding structure, holes, ledges etc... Plus just knowing actual depth would be nice

Jordan I should be able to give an in field report by the end of the week, I am picking one up Weds and heading up to Knox to test it before road tripping to Clendening and Salt Fork. I am anxious to try it on the Muskingum as well.

Jordan, I have gotten to try it and I have no idea how I bank fished this long without it! The only down side, Deeper is working on an update for IPhone IPad apps to allow all the feature to work. It will still record the bottom in GPS mode and give you fish finder readings you just can't upload your data to Deepers cloud. I "borrowed" our grandsons old Android device so problem solved! It can show mud, gravel or hard bottom, veggation shows up green. It will show shad and bait schools. You can choose between generic fish icons with depth or the crescents that will give an idea of size. I have mapped out all my bank spots at Knox, with a few surprises. I am going to work on a couple channel spots at Aum this week. I am off work the week of July 4th and plan to head over to Clendening and Salt Fork to map a few spots there.. I have used it on the kokosing and let it drift down with the current to map pools below riffles. The hard part for me is to remember to point the rod tip down so the DEEPER stays level in the water as you retrieve it. It's slightly smaller then a tennis ball weighs 3.5 ozs., has 5 sonar transponders that are duel cone either Narrow or Wide Scan, has an Ice fishing flasher function, generates its own WIFI hot spot so you can cast it 100 yards and has GPS built it! Deeper is based in Lithuania so can you say "borrowed" Russian technology?

No kidding, glad it works so well. You borderline have me talked into buying one. I probably will actually.

I have seen a few different kinds on the market Deeper is supposed to be one of the better products. Only complaint i have heard which it could be resolved is it will see logs or structure and say its fish and not structure. From what i heard using it as a depth finder and such works great but the fish finder is not reliable. I am also really close to buying one trying to read these rivers and holes is really hard so any help is a plus.
