What is best way to drift fish the Mississippi River? We are new to this. Motor upstream and let current take us back down? Or troll upstream against current?

I call it bumping. I put the bow of my boat into the current and use my trolling motor to slow me down to about 1 mph and we bump baits out the back of the boat using a 3 way rig. You just raise your rod up and then back down to keep feeling the bottom. The size sinker depends on the current speed. Good luck.
