Think these will hold up for channels and flatheads using clickers. I wont be drifting for blues or anything along those lines and like i said i would always be using the clickers for flats. I sold 8 monsters last year because i needed money and these are temp until i get some small driftmaster racks.

screwing the 2x3 straight to the side of my boat;
used heavy duty pvc glue to hold the wye as well. i am a little nervous about the strength, but sched 40 is pretty durable

I don't think you have to worry leave the clicker on and sont forget to turn it on and you should be good to go

I see no reason to worry at all. What were your concerns? As long as you anchor them to your boat well I think you could drift for blues, or leave the reel engaged for flats and channels no problem.

my concern was the glue not holding in the socket and losing a rod.
i made 4 sets to replace the side racks for my monsters so i am hoping they hold up.

If you used PVC glue you will be fine. We have several rental properties and I get to use the pvc cleaner and glue all of the time on the pipes. It's really strong stuff, try breaking one I bet you can't just with your hands. We have tried to split pipes that have been glued together but we end up cutting them and using couplers to replace the bad sections of pipe.

I think it should work just fine Jordan! 8 know a lot of guys that use this style and will lock the rod down. Makes some strange noises at times but I've never seen one fail.

Like everyone said.....the glue will be fine. Mount that rack to the boat then put a pipe in the holder.......pull down on the pipe.....I'm willing to bet the wood mount will break off the boat way before the pipes will come loose.

looks great man...I agree with above...if its mounted to the boat well I see no reason why ude have to use clickers...and if you do use clickers I defidently see no problem...when its attached to the boat ide put a rod in it and try to bury the rod with your hands and see how it acts...looks great tho
