I,ve found the spillways below lake dams to be a reliable source of bullheads.I personally aint a big fan of them. They attack all my other bait and i've never had better success with them than greenies or gills.

No good in lakes, great in rivers i have no idea why? but we used to put them on a pole or two when we fish the lakes, in all those years we never ever had a run on em, i wouldnt put one on my line for 20 bucks at a lake, rivers though they are great! That is one thing that puzzled me for years!

I agree Ducky, I have caught sooooo many flatheads on Bullheads in the rivers but not a damn thing on them in the lakes! totally blows my mind why the flatheads wont touch them in the lakes but they love them in the rivers

Is there a difference between using bullheads and small channels? I have never had ANY luck using small channels. Never caught a bullhead when I was seriously catfishing.

we catch them here in small creeks right behind the pillars of a bridge crossing, on the bottom with crawlers. it is nothing to get a dozen each time but we usually take a few and target chubs. No real luck to speak of on them, but we have got some fish on them, but you basically need a second bait bucket for them or they kill everything else.

Last year I dropped a goldfish for flathead bait. It got eaten by a channel cat which got eaten by a flathead. Big flathead won't hesitate to eat any fish they can catch at times. Sometimes they don't want to eat at all.

I was just wondering the percentage of your fish caught on bullheads, 15 out of 20 is a great percentage, you must have some better tasting bullheads than what we catch ;D
