I bought some fishbite rod holders (basically the same as monsters) for my 1756 aluminum boat. They have an aluminum base for mounts. My question is do you guys recommend drilling through the top rails to mount these? I have 12 of them so I would be drilling 24 holes in my top rails.

I just bought eight Driftmasters for the sides of my boat. Already have them across the back. I'm gonna do what Luckey said, drill and silicone them on the siderails. Shouldn't be a problem... rollo

Thanks guys.......its tough drilling holes in an all-welded boat. I had my 798 humminbird for two months before I could bring my self to drill holes to mount the transducer.

Personally I wouldn't trust ANY base with only 2 screws or bolts in them, I have way to much invested in my gear to take that chance!!!
