There should be a number on the bottom of the reel foot. Its more of a batch number than a serial number. It gives Abu an idea of when the reel was manufactured. Some of the older reels were actually stamped but the newer reels have a decal that doesn't last long. The decal little decal can easily be rubbed off then the reel is put on a rod.
