So all the reading ive done shows alot of guys like to take certain live bait at different times a year. Heard cooler water to use softer baits...warmer water better for gills. Just what ive read.
I know its all relative to your water.
But,
What are some of your go to live baits for the fall season?
Im heading to the big o ina couple weeks...im going to take skipjack for cut bait and a bullhead or 2 .... Try to get a sucker

Looks like bullheds and suckers we all agree on...never tried bass...may have to take 1 or 2 ...
Where do you hook the bass?

enough said rockies included second to smallies i prefer through the lips in the river to keep that mouth shut. behind dorsal or tail for lakes. rock bass is by far my favorite bait but hard to keep channels off them in most places. So small mouth are our primary bait. Then largemouth third. whie bass last and only if nothing else is in the well

Its hard to beat a hand sized rock bass or a 10-12 inch smallie for the river

Man few weeks ago I had three rods with big slender baits and one with a Gill....before anyone cries about extra rods my gf was there babysitting two of em...anyway I caught three flats In two nights two on gills and one on a live shad...never one had a run on big slender baits...for me this time of year they usually love big suckers and bullheads....may have been a fluke but wished I had more gills those nights...always seems they want the bait u have the least of and can't readily replenish...if it at all helps these were lake fish...so in fall I always like big slender baits but moral or the story is always have a wide assortment out because ya never know when or why they will want something new...
