Cabin fever is really starting to set in for me here. Anyone been out fishing here lately? I haven't been out for awhile and haven't made any trips south for blues either yet.

The ohio river is still runnin pretty high, 9 feet high as of today. That's pretty much been the case for the last month or so. We have been fishing lakes 2 to 3 times a week. Mostly using live minnows on jigs near deep structure. Were catching tons of crappie and blugills....30+ a trip, with an ocasional perch and largemouth...but no channels yet. I think were fishing too deep for channels, or maybe we need to cut the minnows up and use them dead. If it ever stops raining i'll make my way down to the ohio river and let you know how its doing.

we have still been going last tuesday wecaught 2 channels and the had some bite christmas eve, but went out yesterday no bites

I went down to santee on the 20th for a couple days to fish and hang out............weather was awesome with highs in the 80's. First day we went out we only made two drifts though because the lake was pretty choppy with 3-4' swells........second day was a lil better but we only caught 4 fish, biggest was around 15lbs......the wind picked up again on the second day forcing us off the lake......eventhough the fishing wasn't great I had a good time, we grilled out some ribeye's from piggly wiggly and had plenty of bourbon drinks!!

rumor has it that joey6500 put a 30lb lake sturgeon in the boat yesterday, and lost several even bigger!!!

I caught 8 yesterday after trying to hunt down a big Blue all day. I went and anchored on an island on the channel ledge around 3:00 P.M. Caught them in 15 to 25 foot of water off of a mussel beach with a large downed tree for a current break nothing under 5 or over 15 all Blues, Caught two short fat 5 lbers. I got 4 very nice fillets for me and the bride for New Years Dinner. Caught them on Med sized cut skip heads and steaks 1 1/2 in wide. Had a lot of nibbles but I baited up for for what I got in the boat. Perfect size cuts. I would get nibbles from squeelers for a while and the bigger ones would run them off and take the bait. The heads triggered bites over the steaks atleast 2 to 1. I was on Lake Guntersville.

@ kip, I was just joking..........i went over there the other day and we played rapala pro fishing on wii for about 8 hours...lol it's a pretty fun game, but they make the fishing rod for it cheap as heck.......both people that i've known to own the game has broken the fishing reel it comes with.....

Caught a 111 lber last night and a 48 lb striper. Gonna catch a lot bigger ones once I unlock the 80 lb braid!!!

next sat im fishing if the river isnt froze over,1st tournament of the year,i just hope it warms up a little.it been in the single didgits and teens here so far all week
