I've been using a 5# mushroom out the front...holds good on most bottoms as long as you put a proper angle on the rope. I wanted that 15# for keeping the back from swaying in low current situations. Like last august on the muskingum when there wasn't even enough current to open my drift sock. Um all about a proper anchor, I can't stand the boat swaying...I like it buttoned down good.

I'm locking them down Massey! Gonna get my rod bowed up! you know i used to let them shovelheads run with the clicker too, as it is a populaur technique to fish catfish.....especially in our area of ohio. I would often get runs, miss alot of runs....catch a good one everynow and then. I started fishin' with captain roundhill as often as i could back in 06' after meeting him and his wife shelly at a georgia gathering down on the altamaha river in south ga. I've learned alot of the techniques I use now from the old man. He explained it better than i've ever heard, he said where do you want the fish to run to? Under a log, behind a rock, up in the bank? Made pretty good sense to me and I've been tightlinging since. The more I did it the more I liked it. If I get a good bite the fish is coming to the boat most of the time. It does take getting used to and patience is the best practice when tightlining a circle hook. And yes shovelheads do bite different than blues most of the time, but they will get hooked just as good. Them shovelheads will suprise you though sometimes they will smoke a rod in the rodholder......although most the time they will make that rod bounce until it sticks, or with a lil experience you will know when you can smoke em with the reel, or just gently pick the rod out of the holder and set the circle hook yourself if they're short bitin'....

Hey Kip, how much are them cat anchors? I need a good front anchor again. My problem is every time I get a good anchor, I do something stupid like anchor where theres a sign saying under water cable DO NOT anchor! I imagine shipping would be whats outragous.
Massey, let me know what ya think about that depth finder. Im afraid mine is on its last leg. I rewired everything last summer, seems the short might be in the unit itself. Need to find a good way to get some rubber pads to mount the next one on. I think its getting too much vibration while motoring, and possibly damaged the unit. rollo

The cat river anchors are 45 bucks and 20 to ship them. Still a lot cheaper than the ricter and a much better design for getting it unstuck in them situations.

i was worried about that telescopic light loosen up when moving but i think i will just drop it down when its rough. we will see. it has a twist locking nut that tightens down when its extended
i got one of the river anchors i will take a pic of here in a bit. mine is blue caoted but i assume same idea. mine is pretty heavy but i won it in a raffle so i cant complain
and i love my clickers man thats going to be a hard transition for me to make as a full time choice. i have used circles a lot and even used them for a full season to really give them the chance. i think for me i am just more comfortable with clickers. i have nothing against them though
