I'm looking to add a couple spinning rigs. I was thinking of pairing an Okuma avenger baitfeeder 40 with a 8 foot uglystik catfish rod for a channel set up. Does that rod and reel set up sound right? I was thinking the 50 for a more dual purpose channel/flathead reel again I was considering the 8ft uglystik catfish rod. Like always I am open to other suggestions. Thanks in advance Fred

Again if your gonna be using heavier mono id go with the 50 size for line capacity. I dont use spinning reels but ive heard lots of good things about the okuma baitrunner reels.

I used to use the other big spinning bait feeder by okuma and I appsolutly loved it... Quiet clickers are the only reason I use the barrel bait casters

Epixor EB baitrunner... My brother caught a 40 pound flathead just after he got a set and he said it handled it like a champ... He just bought my old one off me and is about to repaint it for his girlfriend birthday... And it's the one he had.. He got it used and its still in great working condition with very little maintenance... I think it's around 10 years old, but the paint is starting to peel from age... I HAVE NEVER REPLACED A PART OR FIXED ANYTHING!!!

I run the 40 with a 7 ft. Ugly and I love the set up. I run Berkeley 20 lb. big game for channel cats. Ive handled 30 in. fish with no problems at all.

Thanks for the feed back, I just ordered a 40 and a 50 from Dave at bottom dwellers.....I am hoping my wife finds them less intimidating to cast then my Alphamars.

i have the 50 Avenger paired with a Quantum big cat 7'6" rod. Nice set up, i really like the reel. But as im beginning to fish heavier current and larger rivers im fishing only baitcast now. But i did land a 35 with it a couple years ago. I thought the drag was going to explode when the fish hit fast current but it held up. You wont be disappointed with it.
