My Grand Father loved to catch Carp with a flyrod. I thought he was nuts, LOL!!! The largest he caught on a flyrod was 26lbs, he told that story all the time, I loved hearing it, wish I could again!!!

I have never caught a carp on a flyrod but seen people do it. I'll really have to try that.

Went out today to do a little bass fishing and noticed that the carp where cruising shallow water. One spot every time I made a cast the carp would spook. There were easily 20 fish each time they spooked. I imagine that there getting ready for spawn so they should really start feasting soon.

the year the cacadas were out we would go around the lake scoop up 50 or 60 cacadas and use em on 6 lb test we would catch 30 or 40 carp a day doing that, just a clear bobber for weight, and a #6 hook let it float along the bank and within mins you would have a carp, bass or channel cat most fun i ever had in one day, you would catch so many your forearms hurt, i took my fly rod out a couple of times and made a popper that looked like a cacada and caught a bunch on them too. Very fun with a fly rod!

I use a bottom rig consisting of a egg sinker swivel and a hook, I think its called a slip rig. I have tried using floats, but never had any luck. However I have caught them while casting a hook and nightcrawler for bluegills. 95% have come of bottom though.

My Favorite carp rig is a Abu 6000 spooled with 8lb mono and a Berkley big game rod med action, My bait range from bread with peanut butter in it molded around the hook, corn, worm's and liver soaked in strawberry jello mix over night .....Now for grass carp you can't beat a cherry tomato on a # 6 bait holder hook i swear by it i like to catch them but i like the smaller 1's just as much they go into the bait tank for Flathead's
