Usually don't have any problems with the hook turning back into the bait. With the 7/0 on big baits I either bridal them through the mouth/back/ or tail. Another way I like to run them is I use a 2/0 salmon hook (think thats what they are called only inch long) And run the 7/0 through the eye of the 2/0 and just hook the 2/0 into the bait. I have been experimenting with circle hooks on channel cats and the best way for me to run them. What I have found is that I get better hook ups if I bridal all my cuts, chunks and live baits. Is this what others do? And is this the best way to use circles?

I like to use 2/0 for channels and the 7/0 for flats. I usually have a 99% hook up ratio for channels from shore or boat with mono and braid. The flats ratio dropped down this year to maybe 50/50 with mono doing better. I just couldnt get good hook sets this year from the boat but did good from the shore. Allot of smaller flats this year might of had something to do with it as I use bigger baits from the boat? Was thinking of trying circles for flats this year from the boat don't know how they will work? I had way to many misses this year and need to change something?

I would just use the pvc pipe and mount it on a board or something with u bolts or something similar. Also I seen on line some where? A guy used pool noodles for the tops(1-2 ft up) to keep the rods from bouncing around allot. Think he used a board for the bottom with holes drilled in for the rod butts. He cut slits in the noodle for the rods and used a washer and screws to attach it just don't have the screws/bolts where your rods would be inserted

It pays to check out Bottom Dwellers Tackle often I took advantage of the black Friday sale he had and got a great deal! Dave you did a fine job on the making and looks of these rods! Cant beat them for the money! Don't know how you do it at this price they are top notch!!! THANK YOU DAVE for everything you do from great tackle/prices to all the clubs you sponsor and the time you put in to answer any questions/help about fishing you are asked. Thank You Steve

I wasn't aware they weren't already game fish in every state...unless they are invasive species there anyway...I know they are considered game fish in Ohio...I totally agree with you on better limits...I mean seriously Ohio's limit is one 36" fish a night if I'm not mistaken...if everyone is taking just one 36" flathead a week it'd hurt the population let alone per night... Your neighboring state over here in Pa they are considered pan fish. If anyone wanted to they could keep 50 Flats/Channels/ Pan fish combined with a no maximum or minimum size per day.On that note Moraine State Park is ranked in the top 20 in the country for the best chance of catching a 20lb+ channel. Even with this great channel cat lake everyone fishes for Large mouth Bass which is the best lake in Pa for 5lb+ fish and at night its all about the Stripes. I fish this lake all year if I see 1-2 other people just fishing for cats in a night that's allot. They just don't get the recognition they deserve over here.
