In the Ohio where i fish it almost seems impossible to run a clicker unless your using tons for weight. I have never tried loosing the drag to a point to were some tension will cause the circle hook to do its job. I have bank holders and have had huge hits that pull them almost out of the ground in a quickness. So my question is should I run the clicker in the shallower slower GMR then apply pressure when the flatty runs? Set the drag as loose as possible for the hook to catch or leave the suckers locked down so I know it will load the rod. In the ohio I have learned clicker is almost useless and loosening the drag makes more of a chance just to loose the fish. So I lock them down and bury those holders as far as i can.

I have been drifting through the catfish1 forums for years and am now here. A lot of the names look familiar so here it goes, I fish for both Blues and Flatheads. I fish only the Ohio River and GMR. I know quite a few guys on here that are from my area. I am stuck to bank fishing no boat for now.... I know some but far from all cat catching tips. My current setups are 6500 pro rockets and 6500 KC series on 9ft whiskers seekers. I use mainly circle hooks for both flats and blues, 65lb test suffix 832 and 30lb mono shock leader. How does that setup sound? I learned from mainly Steve Douglas and Chad Ferguson vids and another tips from helpful catters browsing through forums. Just say no to paylakes folks!!
