Went shed hunting this weekend for the first time. I had a friend share some pointers with me, but they weren't enough. I didn't find any but I found a lot of rubs, so the deers must be ready to drop them. Has anyone found any this year? and Do you have any pointers? I live on a 80 acre farm in Northern Adams County, we share a boundary with Brush Creek State Forest. Our plot of land has several creeks and old fences that run through it. Thanks, Sean Stone

Ive only found a few myself but my dad has hundreds of nice sheds. He just walks the property were he has seen alot of deer activity. I know he has found them at fence crossings, in cut corn and bean fields, and around water sources. Just target your effort were you see the most activity for a start. Good luck!

i have only found a couple just by accident but every one i talked to says the same thing that kip said. many people rap chicken wire around trees on rub lines so they get their antlers stuck in them and pull out. i think you need to call your game warden so he can write you a permit for collecting sheds. i heard rumor of this a few years ago but put little thought into it since i don't hunt them.

I believe the law is that sheds are ok but you have to have a permit from the Game Warden on a skull intact with horns. Meaning if you find a Buck dead it still needs to be tagged.

Just to follow up with what smoothkip said: I just read an article in Ohio game and Fish (March) called "Searching for Sheds." The author stated that anyone could hunt for sheds without a licence or permit. I think if you find a dead deer with antlers still attatched then a game warden needed to be contacted in order to make that rack legal.

Yeah, my dad has found a few already. A few smaller ones. I did see a half rack the other morning coming home from work.
