My advice would be to take these guys up on their offers, and bring a notebook. ;D Seriously you will learn a lot more from fishing with other people than you will on your own. When people talk try to listen and find out what they are trying to tell you.
You can learn a lot from people when you listen. Just the other day I was loading my boat and the guy beside me starts a conversation about the days fishing. I showed him a few pictures and told him where I had caught the fish. He informed me that he had just suffered a heart attack followed by a open heart surgery the previous year. I believe he just wanted someone to talk to. I had no where to go and nothing to do, so I lent him my ear. After about 30 minutes he had told me every spot he had fished throughout his lifetime, he told me where to go, when to fish at each spot, and what to use as bait. He told me about lakes I didn't even know had flathead, and I'm sure not many others do either. Ten minutes later another older gentleman comes up and starts talking to us as well. He started rambling off his favorite spots and telling stories from his past.
The whole time I probably spoke 5 or 6 sentences, but I learned quite a bit......probably 100 years of fishing between the two of them. You won't learn that much that quickly on your own. And plus fishing by yourself is no fun when you don't have anyone to brag to. Lol

Mikey you are welcomed to come down and fish with us anytime, like them guys said. As for hints, theres lots to learn from others as in terms of techniques etc. But like Randy said above, biggest thing is time on the water, and having patience! Big fish don't come every day. rollo

Hard to take you fishing when I work six days a week and 8-12 hrs a day...plus I live an hour and a half away from you and every spare second I have is spent with my fiance and kids...I have prioritized and never looked back...I know what's important in life...and glad to say fishing comes second to supporting and spending time with my family.

I don't believe any harm was meant by his post/posts. I'm glad to hear you have things in order, family is definitely more important than fishing. Once the kids grow up, you'll have fishing partners for life. Mikey will do good from fishing and learning from others.

And I thank everyone for the invites, but my parents are really weird about who I fish with because they hear about rapes and molestation so much as teachers.... Just got to wait till I got a lisense

It probably doesn’t seem like it, but they aren’t being weird, they’re doing their job.
