i've been using the 220 gto reels bank fishing for flatheads. but i've just bought 3 new rods twc's and would like to know if these reels are also good for these rods? Iwill be fishing for blues and flats.

220's will do just fine,got some friends that use them for trolling trophy stripers

Pip, I have heard alot of bad things about these reels not holding up. I believe the drag system failed on them as well.I dont have any so I dont know personally, its just what I have heard.

Thanks guys still thing to decide . Looking at 7000i red what do you know about these. Should i go with 7000i red or 7000ics. Any other sugestiĆ³ns would be appreciated. Thing to stay around 100.00 to120.00. Just want the most for my buck.

Ive owned both the 7000Is and The 7000IC3s I think they are both great reels. The IC3 has a few more bearings and the carbon matrix drag. The redesigned drag makes it 35% stronger and a little more smooth. I feel the 20.00 price increase is worth the money. I never had any problems with mine.
