trolling rig

we have been using this rig to troll for channels with good success. it is basically like an erie dearie weapon. just cheaper to build than buy. we run it like a santee cooper rig with about a 2 ft leader. infront we run a sinker slide and eithe bass casting inkers or bank sinkers, weight depends on water and depth you want to fish. i assume a 3way would work fine too. i just prefer santee style to avoid tangle. we have been messing with weight and for us a 1oz bank seems to work best or atleast a good starting point .. and we are running 3-4/0 big river hooks

Pretty sweet....last couple times ive been to santee that was the new thing with the blades right above the hook....captain roundhill used them on half his spread for a year....he said he got more fish and bigger fish on the spinner blade rigs..........do those weights hang up for ya any?

we started messing with the rigs a few years back but were getting hung up a lot due to too much weight, but they always seem to produce. they are the shit on portage lakes. i am always interested to hear how much weight and what kind of sinkers other people use to try it out though. i think the visual stimulant is the key to getting bigger fish

the bass casting hang up more than the banks, those 1 oz banks are pretty streamline because the bell really isnt much fatter than the eyelet on em so they seem to slide right threw stuff pretty good. usually once i find out what weight is working we retie and eliminate the slide so there is even less to hang up.

The snake weights populaur in sc dont hang up hardly at all unless u try to go right through a stumpfield or somethin.....its not rare to drag a spread of them all day and not lose one......if we get achance to get up I can throw ya a few to see if you like them.

i have seen em online and in mags but never tried em. thought of trying to make my own. i would def try them. id trade you some smokes or something

U ever catch odd fish with that rig? Looks like u would pick up bass and eyes with it, we catch tons of eyes with the same rig, we also catch alot of channels too. But we use leechs or crawlers, when targeting eyes.

yea from time to time. depending. on decent sized cut baits no, not really. but if we use chubs live or whole we pick up some other fish.

we have got some real nice striper out of seneca though on cut
