Catfishing on the Red River around Grand Forks is holding steady with good numbers of fish coming in. Many are smaller with bigger ones mixed in. The best places to look are just off the first drop from the bank, around wood piles and around the faster water drop offs. It seems to be an on and off bite from spot to spot so stay on the move and keep throwing bait for best success. If you are targeting exclusively big fish keep working the deep cuts with current and log jams near deep water. The best bait has been sucker but other baits are working. Even some manufactured baits are producing numbers of eaters right now.
The cooler weather from the past weekend has dropped the water temperature a few degrees which will likely hold off the spawn for another week making for some good catfishing opportunities to come for the next couple weeks.
