Welcome, although I do not believe catfish will take a bait tail first, the video was informative. Catfish will take a bait head first due to two reasons one the crusher plates are in the back of the Flathead throat, he will always take a bait head first to crush the head of the bait to kill it, second a Flathead is used to eating fish with sharp dorsal fins, ( bluegill) if you would try to swallow a gill tail first it would never go down because the sharp dorsal fins would go into the Flathead throat, try starting at the tail and on your rig you may have even better hook ups!
