frist trip out went south.the boat started an ran fine.after 15 mintue ride up river,i ramped another boats wave.then my boat died,it started up.but wouldnt plane out.then wouldnt start.towed it in.tryed to start at home.wouldnt start ,unless i used starting fliud.any ideas?2005 mercury.60 40 jet.

Well, you know it’s fuel related. How old is your fuel line? They’re relatively cheap to replace. Fuel pump would be the next thing I’d check. BTW, don’t using starting fluid if your motor is a two stroke. It washes away the residual oil internally, which of course is vital in a two stroke.

thanks, line 2005 fuel, pump 2005 .well we pushed choke in many times today.an it started.starts fine when hot.but when motor is cold,starts slow. i dont think chokes working right.any ideas.

I'm guessing a good carb cleaning is in order. Maybe that wake broke some debris free? Hard cold starting is often a sign of a dirty carb.
