I didn't know exactly if i should put this in other species (i dont fish them for sport) or bait section so i put it here in the general section.
Anyway, does anyone know of or heard of any regulations on these fish. Basically bag limit and length requirement are what I need. I have never been able to find anything.
I am not going to lie, we use them for bait and keep what we catch, again for the same reason. I don't want to break any laws and would stop if we are. I have just never been able to find anything that says one way or another so I have always assumed they are free game and unprotected. If anyone knows or has heard anything different let me know. The new season is about to begin and I dont want my tank and freezer full of illegal bait.
We asked a warden this past year at a MWCD lake who said we were fine to keep what we needed, but at the local outfitter/baitshop he said no there were length and limit requirements protecting the fish.

no regs on them. They work great for cats below dams on the Ohio.

I like them for bait on the Muskingum, during the spring run is a great time to use them for flats.

There are size limits if you're catching them on the ohio river in the rules pamphlet. Down near pike island dam this fall, white bass were basically all I used for flat bait as I could catch a dozen in no time with a cast net. They worked pretty good.

I wouldn't let a ranger or a warden see you do that. I think the rule is that you can only keep forage species when using a throw/cast net. I'm not positive, but thats the rule we go by.
