got a new boat to me. 14ft jon starting to restore it a bit but i want it fishable first and foremost. the rest of the fix it up will come in time as fishing season dies down or when i got free time around the house this is the rod rack mock up without my driftmasters on it.

Cant ever have too many rod holders...lol. Are you going to run them along the side too? I would suggest putting 4 or 6 bases on each side, and buying half of the rod holders to fit the bases.. That way you can move the rod holders between the bases as each fishing spot dictates, might help save a little money too.
Looking good.

We have been dropping two anchors and positioning the boat cross current and fishing 6 rods downstream off of the side of our jon. Right now the ohio river is running too slow to use one anchor and fish off the back anyway. You may run into similar problems on other rivers as well.
Side mounted rod holders will also help you get a huge spread when drifting or trolling. If your rods are 8 feet you can cover a 16 foot path rather than a 8 to 10 foot path that you'll cover off the back.
Since your working on the boat now, you may wanna check for minor leaks. The best way to check for leaky rivits is to get the boat level and fill it with water. Then look under the waterline for any leaky rivets. We use jb weld water putty on ours and it seems to last the longest so far. Its like 5 bucks a tube, and you can seal over a dozen rivits with one tube. Its best to fix things now rather than find out on the water. Lol
