Catfishing Christmas

I was wonderring how many expect catfish gear for Christmas?

I have already recieved several fishing items. I added another Shimano TR200 to my arsenal. I will be installing a new deck on the Catfish Queen and refitting new seats soon.

I just asked for money or gift cards. My wife and family would have no clue what catfishing items to buy, even if I wrote them down! LOL ;D Happy Holidays everyone! rollo

But you must remember that for women, shopping is a treat and they consider it a sport

As a friendly tip I will tell you I used to circle items in the Cabelas catalog with red marker to help my shopper out.

Thats a good idea man! I may have to try that with Bottom Dwellers Tackle, and print off the six months same as cash headline so she don't sH@T! when I ask for 6 brand new Pro Rockets all at once! LMAO! rollo

me and the wife wre getting new appliances and furniture for the house so no gifts for one another for christmas or bdays this year.

my family typically gets/gives hunting gifts rather than fishing which for the same reason rollo mentioned i am fine with. dont trust them to pick out my fishing stuff

I got a hummingbird down imaging fish finder from Rylan yesterday.....probably one of the best fishing gifts i have ever gotten. I wanted a new fishfinder but never could afford one.

Fishing partners can do fishing gifts well, but as rollo mentioned, most other people have no idea. One thing that i got last year that surpised me was a set of fishing books..in fisherman, etc...i even got a few dvds. Buying stuff like that is pretty hard to mess up. Its when they go to walmart and buy stuff that looks like what you have, thats when things can go wrong. "That reel ( a shakesphere tidewater) looks bigger thab you other reels ( abu garcia 6500s and 7000s) so i thought you would like it." Or "You said you needed a new net" as you unwrap a crappie net that wouldnt fit a basketball in.

I'm sure others have better "worse" gift stories they could share.

My family refuses to give me fishing gear,guns or tools as gifts any longer they say I already have more then I'll ever use. Then they ask me stupid questions like what do you want for Christmas. Uh I want fishing gear,guns or tools.

Its has a color screen, down imaging, temp, a feature called switch fire (which switches from high sensitivity to low sensitivity with a push of a button), etc. I took it out the other day and drove around a little. I like the color screen a lot better than the black and white lowrance i had. You can really see shades of color (Red to blue, etc.) more easily than you can shades of grey. It makes detecting hard structures such as trees, rocks, and other structure much easier, leaving the lighter shades of the color scale for vegetation, mud/sand, and fish. I haven't used the down imaging feature yet, but I have a few spots in mind.

This fish finder should be a good stepping stone for the expensive units. If I like using the fish finder, and I think spending more will aid in my fishing...... i'll make the commitment and spend a significant amount of money for a better model.

The old fish finder is a lowrance x52....it'll be collecting dust i guess. If anyone needs a cheap fish finder let me know. It works fine, and I have all of the parts. I'll give it to someone who needs it and will use it..... not throw it up on craigslist/ebay/other sites to make a profit. Shoot me a pm or txt me if you have my number. I can hold it until spring if needed.
