Hey guys, need some advice on something here i bought a 79 9.9 johnson outboard last year and i love it to death i'll never go back to mercurys again lol any way i got a gallon jug of the omc oil when i got it but it was 45 bucks! i noticed pennzoil 2 cycle is only 17 at wally world i was wondering if anyone else uses it and is it good?

I used it in a 2000 90hp merc. for 12 years with out any problems. Factory parts are always high whether it outboards or cars.

Pennzoil is very good oil used it for yrs outboards ,chainsaws,weedeaters never had a problem and my weedeater is 17 yrs old and still runs fine useing Pennzoil

I use premium plus quicksilver 2 stroke in my mercury 9.9. I probably pay too much....35 to 40 bucks a gallon. Lol. But if it saves my motor a year or two its worth it. There are many things in life.....most things......that you get what you pay for. Just my opinion.
In 10 years i might save enough on cheaper oil to buy a new one though.

Thing of it is theres only a handfull of manufactuers alot of this oil is the same stuff with a different label just like gasoline Ive pulled Sunoco gas from Marathon ,Valero from Sunoco ,BP from from Marathon its just a label when we had Citgo's pulled it from Shell so why pay twice as much for a name most manufactuers has an oil for there product which aint nothing but a label with a higher cost as long as its got a a well known name on it I d use it but wouldnt use like Warrens and some of the off names which I believe is recycled oil
