Hi my name is Joe nice to meet you all. my wife and I are avid Cat fishermen and have been since we were old enough to hold poles. We moved to Bluffs which is near the Illinois River and have been enjoying the fishing here but would take any suggestions for fishing here or around the area. Also if anyone knows where to catch creek chubs and suckers around this area? We use other cut bait and live bait and been pretty blessed with the fishing here. Wife caught a 45 - 50 pound flat head cat last season and i was able to catch a 30 lbs Blue the year before and several others. Attachments:

welcome joe. its a great group of guys. Creek chubs can usually be found in any small creek. Even those running right through the middle of downtown. Not so much in rivers. Just find any hole and you can usually find chubs. Culvert ends are usually the best place. minnow traps work great if you dont have time before a trip. But an ultralight pole, some worms, and afive gallon bucket can make for fun hour or two. Especially with kids.
