I heard about planet bobbers for catfish so I looked up the website. Seems like a fun way to cover some water. Has anyone had any luck or have any input on these? I like to hear the good and bad before i decide to buy them. Any advice would be very helpful

I've been to a few Channelcat tourneys where guys were using them and caught a lot of fish. I myself have never used them or even know how they work. As you said it would be benificial to cover more water searching for active fish. I do controlled drags or drifts so its kinda the same concept.

I have seen them as well, they do look like they have their applications for certain waters. Kinda like setting up with planer boards for musky. You can get the baits out away for sure. I am interested in experimenting with dipsy divers again after years not doing so, using them for catting at different depths with various spreads on certain lakes. We used to use them all the time onLake Erie for walleyes. I'm sure they can have advantages for running cat rigs as well when trolling ... rollo

watched stanfield use them today at katmaster tourney. Had big fish at 7lb 10 oz. One of few with limit. And won first place. They are a great way to cover a large area and get some numbers. Size comes more from knowledge and experience. So if your looking for a trophy fish you just need to do some homework and spend some time on the water. but if your looking for numbers, they are a great way to go.

I've used planner boards for all types of fish with great success. I've used them for striper, walleye, saugeye and musky. One time while trolling for musky I accidentally caught a decent little 5 pound channel cat. They are definitely a good strategy to use for covering water but they do take some getting used to when it comes to setting them up and managing them through out Your trip. I've seen people run as many as 4 per side and as little as one per side.
